Eminem was sued by his own mother for US$10 million. She settled for $25,000.
According to Anthony Bozza’s 2003 book, Whatever You Say I Am: The Life and Times of Eminem, Eminem’s mother sued him for $10 million USD in 1999, claiming he was slandering her on his official studio album debut, The Slim Shady LP.
Litigation on the case concluded in 2001, instead of the $10 million she’d initially filed for, the judge awarded her just $25,000 in compensation.
And to make matters worse, her lawyer ended up pocketing $23,354 of the total settlement, leaving her with just over $1,600 once the dust had settled.
