Gorbachev recorded an album of Russian romantic ballads in 2009.
This disc, called Songs for Raisa, Gorbachev had envisioned it to raise funds for a cancer research charity set up in honor of his wife. Auctioned in London in June 2009, the album was later bought by an “anonymous British philanthropist” for $164,940 (164,693 euros), according to the newspaper The Guardian at the time Gorbachev singing a song.
